Elland Bridge – Listed Canal Bridge Renovation

CPC Civils were successfully awarded the Elland Bridge contract in December 2015 and completed works in February 2017.

Listed Canal Bridge Renovation – About Elland Bridge

Elland Bridge spans both the River Calder and the Calder and Hebble Navigation canal. The Grade II listed bridge is located in Elland, near the City of Leeds.

The bridge was caused heavy and irreversible damage during devastating floods on Boxing Day, 2015.

Listed Canal Bridge renovation – The Project.

The Elland Bridge Project would involve complete demolition then rebuild of the canal bridge.

As project lead, during the works and to meet the planning requirements, CPC Civils would install seven new pre-cast modular arches. Then, clad with existing stone.

Additionally, all services originally running through the bridge would be diverted and installed onto a temporary bridge (Bailey Bridge).

Services included gas, water, high voltage/low voltage telecoms and fibre optic.
