EQUANS
District Heating
Connecting to the existing supply at Newcastle Helix to Discovery Museum, the pipework would be installed along with three valve chambers. This will serve for future connections to the ever-expanding network.
Newcastle City Council, in partnership with our client EQUANS would be taking the first important step towards a sustainable future. The new district heating pipes developed by LOGSTOR, are produced from recycled materials. They will deliver an innovative low carbon heating project.
CPC Civils are proud to be part of the first UK District Heating project using LOGSTOR Green Pipes (recycled HDPE). The project will deliver innovative net zero solutions. This will play a part in reducing the city’s carbon footprint.
CPC would undertake installation of 780m of pipe for this low carbon heating project. The amount of CO2 the network will save in comparison to traditional pre-insulated pipes is 7170kg/7.17t.
The project forms part of a wider £20m low carbon scheme within the City – further boosting Newcastle’s commitment to tackling climate change. The city will be saving more than 30,000t of carbon over 40 years.
