The breach was stemmed by initially dropping 240 (no) 1 tonne bags of stone into the breach location.
At the same time we would install a temporary roadway to the site.

We would then complete further temporary repair to manage the water flow and prevent further flood damage.
This would involve placing 200t of rock armour and clay whilst mobilising pontoon and piling equipment.
We would then place sheet piles across the canal either side of the leak to enable a permanent repair.
The cofferdam would enable us to de-water the site to allow for detailed investigation to determine the exact location of the breach.
The permanent canal breach repairs works would take place through 2021.
