CPC Civils will be installing and upgrading the main public realm (Paving / lighting and street furniture) across the top of Victoria Square and the entirety of the Colmore Row and Waterloo Street Loop. The works will involve small teams removing the existing paving, upgrading the drainage systems and sub-base, and then installing a new paving across all these areas. CPC Civils will be conducting a full stakeholder engagement to ensure anyone that may be affected by these works are fully engaged with our works so we can adapt plans to minimise any disruption to businesses and the General Public. For further details please contact our stakeholder team on the details below.
New Paving across square
New paving and public realm works across Colmore Row and down Waterloo Street
Colmore Row road closure will start from 5th June 2023. The closure starts from Eversheds to Pieminister. Waterloo Street will become a 2-way street with a turning bay to allow for deliveries and drop offs, banksmen will be available to assist businesses with deliveries and drop offs throughout the closure. Access and egress for all businesses will still be accessible and walkways and footbridges will be installed where needed. The road closure will be in place till September 2023
CPC Civils has upgraded the HVM (Hostile Vehicle Mitigation) barriers on Lower Temple Street and in front of the town hall. These barrier systems are used to protect the public and will form essential protection for the City. CPC Civils has also repaired small areas of defective paving on Lower Temple Street including the removal of some redundant street furniture.
Running from September 2021 to the end of March 2022 CPC Civils, in conjunction with our specialist contractor Fountains Direct, will be refurbishing the Victoria Square Fountain. The Victoria Square fountain has not been used as a water feature since 2005 due to systemic problems within the structure of the fountain. To enable these issues to be resolved, CPC Civils will be removing the sculptures within the fountain and cladding to allow a full investigation and lining of the structure. Once lined and all leaks resolved the cladding will be re-installed and Sculptures reinstated so the fountain can function as a River water feature once more.
