Advanced Notification of Works Victoria Square
13 December 22
APPROVED
CPC Civils has undertaken the upgrade of the Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) barriers on Lower Temple Street and in front of the town hall.
These barriers are critical in safeguarding the public and will provide essential protection for the City.
Additionally, CPC Civils has addressed small areas of defective paving on Lower Temple Street, and removed outdated street furniture.
From September 2021 to March 2022, CPC Civils, in partnership with specialist contractor Fountains Direct, will refurbish the Victoria Square Fountain.
This fountain has not operated as a water feature since 2005, due to significant structural issues.
To resolve these, CPC Civils will carefully remove the sculptures and cladding for a thorough investigation and lining of the structure.
Once repairs are complete, the cladding and sculptures will be reinstated, and the fountain will once again function as a water feature.
From January 2022 through to August 2024, CPC Civils will carry out extensive upgrades to the public realm, including paving, lighting, and street furniture, across the upper section of Victoria Square, as well as along Colmore Row and the Waterloo Street Loop.
The works will involve the removal of existing paving, upgrading of drainage systems, and installation of new paving throughout these areas.
CPC Civils is committed to engaging fully with stakeholders, ensuring that all those affected are kept well-informed. This approach will allow for adjustments to plans where necessary, in order to minimise any disruption to businesses and the general public.
